For this project, I designed two billboards for the McDowell County Commission on Aging, each created to balance clarity, professionalism, and a welcoming tone. Because billboards need to be understood in just a few seconds, I kept the layouts clean and bold, with strong typography and high-contrast colors that made the main messages and calls-to-action stand out. The use of gradient backgrounds helped establish warmth and energy, reinforcing the positive mission of the organization while making the designs visually engaging at a large scale.
I also wanted both billboards to highlight the people behind the commission, since community is at the heart of their work. By incorporating photos in a structured honeycomb arrangement, I was able to showcase real staff and community members while keeping the overall look polished and cohesive. This design choice gave the billboards a human element that communicates trust, care, and unity. Together, the two designs not only advertise opportunities but also celebrate the people and values that make the organization meaningful.
